1.
Housing
Be sure to visit the residence hall where your student will be living
for the fall and spring semester and make sure that they will not
have any problems on move-in day. If your student is living in an off-campus apartment, ask the complex
if you can visit the room the student will be living in to inspect
its condition properly. Seek assistance through the Off
Campus Student Resource Center for more information. |

2.
Financial Aid
If you are receiving a Parent Plus loan, be sure to go by the
Financial Aid office with your student or have your student go
on to their MyUCF
account to make sure that all of your paper work is being processed.
Once the student has logged in click on the “Polaris Student
Self Service" link on the left side of the page, in the first
column click on “View my Financial Aid.” You can view
which loans and scholarships you have been awarded and if the
money has been disbursed or not. If there are any problems or
if your student has any questions regarding their financial aid,
contact the office of Student Financial Assistance, at (407) 823-2827
as soon as possible.

3.
Parking Permit
While at Orientation make sure your student receives information
on how to obtain a parking permit. Parking Services will be available
at Orientation. Students will have to register their vehicle online
before they will be able to receive a parking permit. Permits
may be picked-up at the parking services office located in parking garage B or mailed to the student depending on preference.

4.
Dining Memberships
If your student is interested in obtaining a dining
membership you will be able to sign them up for one during Orientation.
You will not need to be with your student to take care of this,
so be sure to ask them some questions about how often they see themselves
visiting MarketPlace, the on-campus restaurant located in the Ferrell Commons. Dining membership officials will make a presentation
during the family Orientation about the different plans they offer.
You will also have an opportunity to eat at MarketPlace for a discounted
price while at Orientation. |

5.
Student under 18?
If your student is under 18 years of age, they will need permission
from you for certain things like being able to climb the rock climbing
wall in the Recreation and Wellness Center. You may complete a form
and have your student sign it at the Recreation and Wellness Center.
You should also check with Student Health Services to determine
if there will be any issues with medications for your student .

6.
From out of state?
If your student is an out of state student and they are looking
to claim residency one year from when they start, they student need
to have a Florida driver’s license for at LEAST one FULL year
prior to the first day of classes for the semester they are trying
to acquire residency. They will also need to switch over their voter
registration and car registration. Information on all other requirements
can be obtained online at the Registrar's
Office website and Click on the “residency reclassification”
link for more information. |

7.
Check the Fee Invoice
After your student has registered they receive a fee invoice which
includes their tuition amount due. Any anticipated financial aid
such as Bright Futures scholarships or loans that have already been
processed will be indicated and deducted from the total amount due.
It is your student’s responsibility to have any remaining
amount paid by the due date (on the fee invoice and the academic
calendar) to avoid holds being placed on their records or being
dropped from their classes. You and your student will be given specific
information on Fee Payment and Financial Aid during Orientation. |

8.
Visit the Bookstore
While you are visiting campus please take the time to get acquainted
with the UCF Bookstore. Do not however, feel pressure to buy your
student's books on campus if you are attending Orientation with
several weeks left before classes begin. Students can also reserve
their books on-line through the Bookstore
website after they attend Orientation and register for classes.

9. Become
a parent member of the UCF Alumni Association
Join today, and we will tell you everything your student will
forget to tell you! Look for the parent membership table at Orientation
following the
Alumni/Parent Presentation on day one; or visit the Parent Ice
Cream Social hosted by the Alumni Association in the evening on
day one. Membership benefits include 15% off UCF logo merchandise
in the on-campus bookstore, the UCF Parent Connection e-newsletter,
Pegasus (alumni magazine), parent events, and much more.

10. Check out the UCF Computer Store
UCF provides students with access to a great resource for computer needs on campus. During lunch at orientation the UCF Computer Store, in association with Dell and Apple, will be providing demos of various laptops available for purchase by prospective students. The computer store offers great discounts and friendly service. Please visit the Computer Store website to learn more about this great service. |

11. Try out the Rec and Wellness Center!
While at Orientation, stop by the Reception Desk for a free pass to the Rec and Wellness Center. You will need a photo ID. Be sure to bring your gym clothes.
