No, the parent and student programs run separate but concurrently to better serve the different needs of parents and students.

What events occur during homecoming?
Homecoming is a big event at UCF. Throughout Homecoming Week there are different activities for all students enjoy. Some of the most popular ones include Spirit Splash, the Parade, and the Homecoming Game where the Homecoming King and Queen are announced.

What is the University Writing Center (UWC)?
The University Writing Center is an on-campus facility that assists students with writing projects. Staff at the writing center will proof read work and give students feedback about their assignment.

What is the UCF Card?
The UCF Card is your student's ID card. To obtain their card, students will need to visit the UCF Card Office located in the Washington Center. The card offers two "purses" into which money can be deposited. The UCF Card can be used like a debit card for purchases on campus and at several UCF area restaurants. The UCF Card can also be used to get into student activities such as UCF Athletics events, concerts, and various other activities.

What is the Ombuds Office?
The Ombuds Office is where students can clarify university policies, recommend changes in UCF policy, make a complaint, and/or ask for assistance with unresolved issues involving other offices.

Is there a Post Office on campus?
The Post Office is located in the Physical Plant Complex Room 101. You may mail packages from the Office Supply Store in the Washington Center. There is also a mail drop box and a place where you can purchase stamps in the Student Union near the Computer Store.

What is the UCF Shuttle?
The shuttle is a free service provided for students to transport them to and from campus. The purpose of shuttle is to alleviate parking and traffic problems on campus. This shuttle departs from different apartment complexes in the UCF area. For more information, visit the Parking and Transportation Services web site at http://parking.ucf.edu/shuttle.html.

How can we find information about on-campus housing?
The Department of Housing and Residence Life oversees all on-campus housing, and is located in the Housing Administration building near the Student Resource Center. For more information visit their website at http://www.housing.ucf.edu or contact the Housing Office at (407) 823-4663.

How can my student purchase textbooks?
Have your student print out a copy of their class schedule, and go to the UCF bookstore located in the Washington Center. Your student can also purchase books online at: http://ucf.bkstore.com/

Do students need to buy test forms (Scantrons) for tests?
Yes, ScanTrons can be purchased from the UCF Bookstore, UCF Office Plus, or one of several vending machines located around campus for a nominal fee.

Where are outstanding charges paid?
Outstanding charges can be paid at the Cashier’s Office in Millican Hall (Room 110) or at the Cashier's Office located across from the bookstore in The Washington Center. (Remind your student to bring a printed copy of their fee invoice. Fee Invoice's can be found at: http://my.ucf.edu/)

What is SEPS?
SEPS stands for Student Escort Patrol Services. It is a service sponsored by the UCF Police Department and runs from Sunday to Friday, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. They will provide a safe escort to anyone on campus during the evening hours.

Where can students do laundry?
There are different locations in each residence hall building where students can do their laundry. The biggest laundry room is found in Lake Claire Apartments.

What Health Services are provided on campus?
The Student Health Center provides low cost medical care for any UCF student as well as an on campus pharmacy. Students may also utilize the Campus Wellness Center which provides services such as registered dieticians and nurses, as well as AA meetings and Stress-Management Therapy sessions.

What are the different kinds of Meal Plans offered at UCF?
Meal Plans range from 10 meals per week and $300 FlexBucks to unlimited visits per week with $100 in FlexBucks per semester to a commuter plan that offers 50,100, or 150 visits per semester. For more information, please visit the Dining Services website at http://www.ucfdining.com/

What is MyUCF?
With MyUCF students can register, drop, add, or withdraw from courses, print their Degree Audit or Fee invoice, and pay fees.

What is the difference between a PID and a NID?
A student's Personal Identification Number (PID) is used to access MyUCF. MyUCF allows students to manage their accounts, view grades, schedule classes, and receive official communication messages from the University. A NID (Network Identification Number) is used for WebCT, to use the computer lab computers, and to utilize other technology on campus.

Who can my Student talk to about what classes to sign up for?
Each student is given an advisor during Orientation. They should make an appointment to meet with that advisor anytime they have a question.

What types of materials will I be given during Orientation?
Each family will receive a parent bag full of helpful materials. The bag includes an orientation newspaper, a parent calendar, a campus map, and a UCF family handbook which includes the services provided and contact information regarding UCF offices and resources.
